What are the guidelines for the Chit Chat section of the site?
Chit-Chat is where friends of Belfast, Maine USA's Colonial Theatre gather to talk trash, sling praise or discuss whatever may be of interest. Usually there is an element of movies...but not always.
Anything you want to talk about is always on the table-- within certain bounds. We don't edit your comments or make you register. But while we are all free to speak our minds, freedom isn't free.
We do expect that you use good language and behave as you would if you were a guest at our theatre. If this doesn't work out, we will revert to unpopular policing actions, including passwords, registration and the like.
In other words: "Ve haf vays to make you talk ze vay ve vant." Remember, it's nice to be nice.
If you'd like to add a topic, please do so at any time. Unused or under-utilized topics may be summarily dispatched or warned of their impending doom. These spaces will evolve as users make their desires and interests known. Take your time and speak your mind. What say ye?

Why are there so few FAQ's
This is a new section to the Colonial Theatre Website and Mike is working on the Frequently Asked Questions. If you have a question about the theatre or the movies in general let Mike know!

Why do you charge so much?
Everyone wants to go first class but nobody wants to pay. Our prices for everything are less than the average movie theatre. Why? I don't know. It makes me feel stupid but for now that's the way it is.

What's the difference between Star, City, and Dreamland theatres?
Star and City are pretty much the same and are located off the main lobby. There is a long sloping floor and older seats with stereo sound. Dreamland has a balcony, newer seats, a huge stage, the original curtains and is down a long hallway which runs under Star and City theatres!

Why are kids frequently not allowed in the balcony of Dreamland?
For most movies that are not completely kid or teen oriented we don't allow kids under 17 in the balcony. Movies like Tomb Raider, Star Wars, Shrek, etc. are open seating. Why? Because the kids cannot sit still for long. Young teens in particular are here to socialize as much to see the movie so they go in and out and in and out. To have them tromping up and down the stairs was insane! So the balcony is the place to be an adult. Contrary to some ideas... we have never had a problem with things being thrown or dripped out of the balcony. It's just all of that running around!
